Real Estate by Design
Colleen's marketing strategy is represented by the tagline that sums up her philosophy—Real Estate By Design; a creative approach to real estate. Colleen’s sixteen years of experience in residential design, in addition to her twenty-five years of experience in renovation, restoration and new construction uniquely qualifies her as a guide to both buyers and sellers. Buyers benefit from Colleen’s ability to assess the value of properties in need of total restoration, or simple resale—all within the context of location and an ever fluctuating real estate market. Sellers benefit from Colleen’s design-based approach in numerous ways: she is able to point out design or remodel potential to prospective buyers so that they can visualize themselves in the home; compelling staging for both showings and photographs (two very different objectives); and a rolodex of phenomenal service referrals for home upkeep, care, and cleaning.
The Devil is in the Details
Colleen's ability to quickly compile and analyze real estate market data and other relevant market information ensures that her clients always have the best information to make their property decisions. More importantly, Colleen is able to utilize this market information and turn the data into results. Her clients benefit from a consultative approach, tailored to their needs—from pricing and marketing to timelines and communication. Negotiating contracts clearly and strategically is of paramount importance and Colleen’s clients benefit from her abilities as a skilled and persuasive communicator. She is an avid adapter of new media for real estate applications while continually evaluating traditional media. Sellers benefit from Colleen’s ability to market their properties on twenty different websites like Realtor.com, Military.com, Zillow and Trulia and property specific websites created for each of Colleen’s listings. Buyers can be anywhere; it’s important that your home is too.
Family Life
Colleen fell in love with Old Town when newly married twenty-six years ago! Soon after, Colleen had two sons -- Jack and Peter. She loved raising her boys in Old Town, walking to shops, restaurants, playgrounds and their pre-schools. While staying home with her boys, Colleen did Masters work in Interior Design at The Corcoran School of Interior Design. When the boys were old enough, Colleen got her Virginia Real Estate license and fulfilled her dream of combining her background in real estate sales and interior design. She moved to Old Town twenty-six years ago after living in Boston, her hometown, where she sold pre-construction luxury condominiums. After college in 1982, Colleen moved to New York City, beginning her career in Real Estate with a focus on resales of Soho and Tribeca lofts. Colleen is enthusiast about her sons - the youngest is a student at the College of Charleston, the elder works for Hubspot in Cambridge, MA. Colleen’s favorite leisure activities revolve around discovering new interior designers, touring historic homes, combining a love of travel while looking at creative items for the home, trying new restaurants, walking the Potomac waterfront, and spending time with her family on Cape Cod.
